Paul Pierce wins Eastern Conference Player of the Week
And he’s just nine points shy of Larry Bird for second on the Celtics’ all-time scoring list. Not bad company.

Linsanity!
(H/T: Michael Gluckstadt) In case you haven’t heard, it looks like Mike D’Antoni is likely going to go with Jeremy Lin as the team’s starting PG against the Utah Jazz tonight. D’Antoni is apparently impressed with the way Lin attacked the basket and ran the Knicks’ offense during Saturday’s game against the Nets (and equally [...]

Boston Celtics Doc Rivers Has Depth To Win
Before the game, head coach Doc Rivers was informed that star reserve forward Brandon Bass would not be able to play due to injury. However, Doc was not worried because he knew the guys behind Bass could contribute and help Boston win their Sunday outing against Memphis. Once again depth saved Boston as Chris Wilcox [...]
Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett Makes Some Noise With 3s
The Boston Celtics got a huge game from one Kevin Garnett during their Sunday romp of the Grizzlies. The “Big Ticket” continued to show there is plenty of life in his game as he went for 24 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Although KG got a lot of his points the signature [...]

Previewing Or Reviewing the Super Bowl
I’ve been avoiding the internet like a plague all day, albeit a plague that I would desperately like to get a piece of. Writing about a super bowl that has already occurred but of which I don’t know the outcome is a bit like apologizing a couple minutes before unfurling a massive fart. Anyway, I’m feeling cautiously optimistic about this game that has already happened (is there a term for this? Post-causal optimism?). I haven’t breathlessly followed every...

Day 43 of 124: A Not So Super Sunday for the NBA
Line of the Night: Eli Manning, 296 passing yards, 1 TD, led the Giants… oh wait, wrong sport. Line of the Night: There was no way that the NBA was going to compete head-to-head with the Super Bowl, so yesterday’s slate consisted of only two early games. That means Rudy Gay’s (1.64) relatively modest 21 [...]
Jonas Jerebko concussing Jason Smith
In the fourth quarter of the Pistons' 89-87, Hornets' big man Jason Smith got in the way of Jonas Jerebko. You don't get in Jonas Jerebko's way. After the jump, I have some screen grabs of Smith running into Jerebko's shoulder/e...
